Sleep Solutions was created for people who are exhausted, uncomfortable, overstimulated, stressed, recovering, healing, grieving, caregiving, studying, working too much, training too hard, or simply unable to convince their brains that it is time to rest. This is not a performance-based yoga class. There is nothing to achieve. There are no gold stars for flexibility. The goal is simple: help the body feel safe enough to rest.
What We Do
1. Venting & Brain Dump (est. 10 minutes) Before the body can settle, the mind often needs to speak. Participants are encouraged to journal, make lists, complain, laugh, process the day, or simply get thoughts out of their heads and onto paper. Many people are not struggling with sleep, they are struggling with unfinished thoughts.
2. Fidgeting & Adjusting the Body (est. 10 minutes) The body is allowed to negotiate. Gentle movement may include:
Hip rocks
Supine twists
Gentle bridges
Cat/Cow
Figure-4 stretches
Shoulder releases
Chamomile tea
This is the opposite of forcing: it is listening.
3. Breathing & Nervous System Downshift (est. 5 minutes) Simple breathing practices designed to reduce tension and help transition from "doing" to "resting." No experience or special beliefs required. Just breathing.
4. Nest Building Comfort is not cheating. Participants are encouraged to use:
Blankets
Bolsters
Pillows
Eye pillows
Weighted blankets (if desired and appropriate)
The body rests more easily when it feels supported.
5. Guided Yoga Nidra & Deep Rest (est. 30 minutes) This is the heart of the practice. Participants are guided into a state of profound relaxation through Yoga Nidra, body awareness, breath awareness, and guided rest. Many people fall asleep. (This is not considered a failure, surprisingly.)
Local Deep Rest Sessions Video sessions are available. In-person sessions include individualized support and positioning, because every body is different. Sometimes the difference between discomfort and comfort is:
A blanket under the knees
Support beneath the neck
Shoulder positioning
A properly placed bolster
A carefully shaped skull pillow
Small adjustments can create profound changes in comfort and rest.
Sleep Is Important.
During sleep, the body performs essential repair and recovery processes. Sleep supports:
Recovery
Mood
Memory
Learning
Athletic performance
Pain reduction
Nervous system regulation
Skin health
Healing
Rest is not laziness - it is biology. Naps are encouraged.
